It is only through the generous financial support of area businesses and individuals that Upstate Visual Arts continues to exist. In an era of downsizing in the federal and state budget funding of arts activities, we operate on a lean budget given the size of our operations and the important nature of our work. This is why we must ask for financial support from the community to continue to offer the kind of programming our artists and patrons have come to expect from Upstate Visual Arts.
While Greenville is fortunate to have many stages and concert halls for the performing arts, Upstate Visual Arts occupies a special niche in Greenville as the only organization solely devoted to the well-being of our local visual artists. Nowhere in the Upstate is there such a unique focus on the visual arts at a community level.
UVA has the potential to vastly improve the lives of our artist population, and, in so doing, to enrich the lives of individuals of all ages in our community. With contributions from the community, both at the private and at the corporate level, we will be able to keep our standards high as we continue to offer our expanding collection of fine programs and activities.
In addition to improving your community, philanthropy can help you minimize your tax burden. You can actually reduce income taxes, capital gains taxes, and gift and estate taxes. Philanthropy can also help to increase your estate planning flexibility.
We are especially looking for foundations and businesses who are willing to commit to multi-year support of our organization or one of our activities. We invite your participation in one of the activities listed above. Or, you may be interested in supporting one of our other activities, such as UVA Art Networking, or our monthly Artist Hour series. In any case, please let us know by contacting the UVA office at 864.232.4433. Or if you'd like to make a one-time monetary donation, please send your tax-deductible check to Upstate Visual Arts, P.O. Box 10873, Greenville, SC 29603.
