CALENDAR of EVENTS
Art + Architecture 2010 exhibition is unique juried exhibit produced by Upstate Visual Arts, open to all photographers. The exhibit will be comprised of architecturally themed photographs taken within a 40 mile radius of the Greenville area. Artists are encouraged to look beyond the whole building to its aspects or component parts. The image could focus on textures, details, the way the building has aged or weathered, the way it interacts with users, the way the sun or rain hits it; in other words, a broader definition of architecture. Photographs should highlight what we take for granted so that the viewer may find a new appreciation for the buildings they pass everyday.
“Architecture affects everybody …from the hospitals where you were born, to schools, grocery stores, markets …Every part of a person’s life is based upon architects’ presence.”
Julius Shulman, Legendary Architectural Photographer
This event is part of Upstate Visual Arts’ commitment of outreach to other local organizations and we are pleased to be a part of Architecture Month in Greenville presented in part by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). This exhibit will be displayed at the Upstate Visual Arts Gallery and we are pursuing other venues for the show. Participating photographers are eligible for awards and for the honor of displaying their work in multiple locations. All work will be for sale while exhibited.
